ABOUT ME

I’ve always been an active person and my passion for movement started very early on.  When I was in middle school, I joined an all-boys soccer team. I quickly fell in love with the sport and played through my high school and college years.  It wasn’t until I was pregnant with my son that I realized physical movement was not only about my physique and physical health but it was a necessary part of keeping me mentally healthy.  I was twenty years young with a newborn, three-wheel stroller and the desire to be the best version of myself for him that I could be.  At that time, I couldn’t imagine running a mile unless I was chasing the soccer ball but there was something about that forward momentum and tangible progress that I craved.  I set a goal to run one mile without stopping, then two, then three.  Before I knew it, I was registering for local 5Ks and 10Ks.  When my son was a year old, I set the goal to run a half marathon and was met at the finish line by he and all of my best friends.  When my hometown of Lubec, Maine, announced their inaugural Bay of Fundy International Full Marathon, I knew that there wasn’t going to be a more perfect marathon for me.  I registered, trained and crossed that finish line with some of my most favorite people watching.

Since I started running fourteen years ago, I have competed in close to 100 races including a full marathon, 30+ half marathons, 10Ks, 4 Milers, 5Ks and several other distances.  I have also competed in Maine’s well-known Tough Mountain Challenge, placing in the top handful of women in my age group.

I’m a competitive person by nature being the fiery, Aries sign that I am however fitness and movement has always been a true testament to the progression of my own self development.  Running has taught me so much about life.  If you want something, it IS achievable!  It doesn’t come easily, it takes training, it takes hard work and passion but it is 100% achievable and it starts with the first step, and in my case, goal of that first mile.

I think that we are constantly evolving as human beings and the things that are important to us in life ebb and flow and my love for movement has always remained consistent.  I believe that movement is life, a way of releasing both good and bad energy from our bodies.  It is a way of coping with the beautiful things we get to experience and the challenging parts.  That is what a full life is about!

As a holistic health coach, I help my clients see movement as a celebration of life, their bodies, and experience what it feels like to accomplish their physical goals and how this can ultimately change their life.    The methods that we apply to finding progress in a physical and mental health journey can also be applied to other aspects of our life- career, motherhood, relationships and beyond!
